Israel reopens key crossing between West Bank and Jordan
(VOVWORLD) - An Israeli official announced that Israel will reopen the main crossing between the occupied West Bank and Jordan to facilitate the transport of goods, starting Wednesday.
According to the official, goods and aid from Jordan will be allowed into the West Bank and Gaza “under the instructions and agreements of the Israeli government.” All trucks carrying aids entering Gaza will be escorted and protected after strict security checks.
The crossing, known as Allenby Bridge on the Israeli side and King Hussein Bridge on the Jordanian side, is the only land route that allows Palestinians in the West Bank to exit and enter by road, and is a vital commercial channel for cargo moving between Jordan and the West Bank.
In related developments, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that at their trilateral meeting in Tehran on Tuesday, China, Iran, and Saudi Arabia jointly called on Israel to immediately cease military operations in Palestinian, Lebanese, and Syrian territories.
