Pyongyang’s ballistic missile launches violated UN Security Council resolutions, according to Otsuka Kengo, Deputy Director-General, Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan; Baek Yong-jin, Director-General for the Korean Peninsula Policy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea; and David Wilezol, Deputy Assistant Secretary, US Department of State.

They called the launches provocative and a threat to regional and global security, and urged Pyongyang to stop such acts. The three countries agreed to continue close coordination in response to North Korea’s next moves.

Japan’s Defense Ministry and South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said North Korea has conducted three ballistic or suspected ballistic missile launches since January 27. It also test-fired a strategic cruise missile from the guided-missile destroyer Choe Hyon on March 10.
