Meeting on the sidelines of the G7 foreign ministers meeting in Nagano prefecture, Japan, the two agreed to strengthen their bilateral alliance's defense capabilities while discussing North Korea’s ballistic missiles and Indo-Pacific geopolitics.

Hayashi said Japan and the US will continue to collaborate to maintain the free and open international order based on the rule of law. Blinken reiterated the US’s commitment to defending its allies, Japan and South Korea, with the full range of its defensive capabilities.

The KCNA on Monday reported that North Korea will take necessary actions if the US continues actions that endanger regional security.
