Kenyan and Vietnamese runners win Techcombank Marathon 2024

(VOVWORLD) - Athlete Edwin Kiptoo of Kenya and national champion Hoang Thi Ngoc Hoa of Vietnam won the seventh edition of the Techcombank HCM City International Marathon which closed on Sunday, featuring a record number of runners.

With 18,000 Vietnamese and foreign marathoners from 64 countries and territories, an increase of 400% against the first season, the tournament was part of the HCM City Tourism Week 2024.

This year’s marathon featured multiple race categories of 42.195km, 21.1km, 10 km, 5 km, and a Kids Run.

The athletes ran through 17 historic landmarks in celebration of the spirit of “Run for a Greater Vietnam".

In the 21km categories, Ethiopian Miko Dereje Alemu took the men's title while former SEA Games champion Pham Thi Hong Le earned the women's.

The 10km winners were SEA Games 3,000m steeplechase champion Nguyen Trung Cuong and Nguyen Khanh Ly. Nguyen Chi Kien and Nguyen Thi Ngoc Lan took the 5km titles.
