Khanh Hoa expands election outreach in ethnic minority areas

(VOVWORLD) - In mountainous and ethnic minority areas of Khanh Hoa province, authorities are stepping up outreach ahead of the National Assembly and People’s Council election, using approaches tailored to reach voters at the grassroots level.

Bac Ai Tay commune has nearly 7,000 voters, more than 80% of which belong to the Raglay ethnic group. Many of them spend long periods working far from home or stay in field huts throughout the farming season.

To ensure all voters are well informed, the local administration has instructed village leaders and polling station teams to visit every household and tell the residents how to take part in the election.

Ka To Hiep, head of Ta Lot village, told VOV, “In our area most of the people are from ethnic minority groups. We have been going door to door and using the loudspeaker system to spread election information. Young people who are familiar with technology are sharing election updates on social media platforms.”

In Bac Khanh Vinh commune, local authorities are both addressing the aftermath of floods that struck in late 2025 and promoting the upcoming election.

The commune has more than 5,000 households from 10 ethnic groups, with ethnic minorities – mainly Raglay – accounting for more than 56% of the population.

To make election details easier to understand and relate to, authorities have adopted the approach of getting members of the ethnic minority communities to inform others in their community.

“In the election for the commune People’s Council, representatives from ethnic minority groups will account for more than 30% of the total. From the beginning, we have carefully reviewed all criteria and political standards to ensure the quality of the candidates,” said Tran Van Hien, Secretary of the Party Committee of Bac Khanh Vinh commune.
