Kremlin denies agreement on Vatican peace talks with Ukraine

(VOVWORLD) - Russia said Thursday it has not agreed to hold peace talks with Ukraine at the Vatican, denying US media reports that suggested negotiations will take place there next month.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also rejected Finnish President Alexander Stubb’s suggestion that “technical talks” might happen at the Vatican as early as next week.

“There are no concrete agreements on any future meetings. This still needs to be worked out,” Peskov said.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced Thursday via Telegram that he had chaired a meeting to prepare for a 1,000-for-1,000 prisoner swap with Russia. He said bringing Ukrainian prisoners home remains one of Kyiv’s key priorities.
