This iconic structure is regarded as a “historical witness” to the resilience and indomitable spirit of the capital’s people. In 1945, following the success of the August Revolution, President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence proclaiming the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, when for the first time the red flag with a yellow star flew atop the Flag Tower.
