(VOVworld) - Kyrgyzstan has cancelled a cooperation treaty with the US which has been in force since 1993.

The treaty, which exempts US civil and military aid personnel in Kyrgyzstan from free of taxes and other custom duties, was cancelled by Kyrgyz Prime Minister Temir Sariev on Tuesday.

US civil and military aid personnel working in Kyrgyzstan will lose the virtual diplomatic status they have enjoyed under the agreement.

According to the Kyrgyz government, when the decision takes effect, the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry will inform the US government of the cancellation.
