According to Chinese officials, the cause of the landslide was continuous rainfall and geological conditions.

The high-position landslide has transformed into debris flows, which, according to a preliminary assessment, have resulted in an accumulation of debris stretching approximately 1.2 kilometers. The landslide layer is about 10-20 meters thick, about 100 meters wide, and has a total volume of more than 100,000 cubic meters.

Landslide is still ongoing. More than 200 people in surrounding areas have been relocated to a safe place.

Sichuan province has mobilized the military, armed police, fire, security forces, transportation, medical care, and communications to conduct search and rescue missions, emergency investigations, monitoring and early warning, and check potential risks.
