Localities attract large numbers during National Day holiday

(VOVWORLD) - Localities across Vietnam saw significant increases in the number of visitors during the recent four-day National Day holiday from August 31 to September 3.

Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Tourism reported Tuesday that the city received 38,000 tourists during the holiday, up 3.25%, generating more than 117 million USD, up 1.7% from last year.

Da Nang City attracted 310,000 holiday visitors, earning more than 48 million USD, up 33.8% from last year.

Quang Nam province, which includes Hoi An and the My Son sanctuary, welcomed more than 193,000 visitors during the holiday, up 16%.

Since the beginning of the year nearly 6 million people have visited Quang Nam, up 7%, earning more than 225 million USD.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hong, Director of Quang Nam’s Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, said: “Quang Nam  province offers many new and interesting experiences and hopes to attract more domestic and foreign tourists to help the province achieve its targets for the year and its plan to develop green, sustainable tourism.”

In Quang Ninh, 455,000 tourists came to the province during the holiday, up 19% from last year, bringing in more than 40 million USD. Hai Phong welcomed 310,000 tourists, up 24%.

Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Lao Cai, Lam Dong, Khanh Hoa also saw soaring numbers of tourists during this year’s national holiday.
