Measures to protect Vietnamese workers in Libya

(VOVworld) – The Foreign Ministry announced on Tuesday that approximately 1,550 Vietnamese workers are working in 15 localities in Libya. They are in safe places and have contacted Vietnamese labor management and diplomatic agencies. The Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs and 12 labor companies are preparing to bring the Vietnamese workers in high-risk areas home. In case the situation there worsens, all Vietnamese citizens will be withdrawn from Libya.

Vietnamese representative agencies in Turkey, Egypt and Algeria have called for these 3 countries to create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese workers to transit before going home. 209 Vietnamese workers have returned home and 182 others have left the conflict areas of Tripoli and Benghazi.
