NA Chair Nguyen Sinh Hung begins official visit to Laos

(VOVworld) – National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung held talks with his Laotian counterpart, Pany Yathotou, immediately after being welcomed in Vientiane on Tuesday. Chairwoman Yathotou thanked the Chairman for visiting, describing it as an important event that contributes to the success of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Solidarity Year 2012. It also marks the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Laos diplomatic ties and the 35th year since both countries signed their Friendship and Cooperation Treaty. She expressed her gratitude for the support from the Vietnamese Party, State and people during Laos’ struggles for national independence and during the country’s national construction and development process. In reply, Chairman Hung said he believed that the Laotian people, under the leadership of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party will achieve even more during its socialism oriented renewal process. Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung says ‘On this visit, we bring our warm feeling and friendship for Laos with us. We believe that the visit will deepen the traditional special relationship between the two countries’.
Both Chairs stated their determination to maintain and develop their fine tradition considering it an invaluable asset to hand over to future generations. Both agreed to boost bilateral cooperation in the spirit of independence, self-control and self-reliance to tap into both countries’ advantages. Following their talks, both leaders witnessed the signing of a cooperative agreement between the two legislative bodies that will see Vietnam and Laos continue to strengthen their traditional special friendship, solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation. Every year, both together will develop cooperative programs and jointly carry out a range cooperative activities.
Chairman Hung and his delegation then offered incense and laid a wreath at the monument to fallen soldiers in Vientiane.
