National Assembly debates law making programs

The National Assembly on Thursday debated its proposed law making programs. The majority of deputies said the previous Assembly approved only 67 of a total 98 bills, failing to meet the set target. But they agreed that many legal documents and ordinances have been issued on time, contributing to the improvement of a socialist state governed by law. Bui Sy Loi, a lawmaker from Thanh Hoa province said: "I propose the National Assembly Standing Committee to agree on the quantities of legal documents and classify them in prioritized order to deal with. There should be 3 criteria for priority: meeting demands of economic and organizational restructure and helping achieve social welfare targets.  

 The National Assembly Standing Committee estimated that the current Assembly’s law making program includes 96 official and 38 preparatory projects.
