(VOVworld)- National Assembly deputies on Tuesday listened to the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh’s report on the East Sea issue concerning China’s illegal placement of an oil rig on Vietnam’s waters and as well as suggested policies and solutions. Pham Binh Minh was speaking with the press about the issue: “We have continued with diplomatic solutions, mostly through direct contact with China. More than 20 exchanges have been made. Vietnam resolutely demanded China withdraw the oil rig and escort vessels out of the region. It is Vietnam’s determination to continue our peaceful struggle in line with international law to protect national sovereignty.”
Deputy Nguyen Thai Hoc from Phu Yen province calls for more support for fishermen to continue with offshore fishing:“The government should offer support in terms of credit and zero interest loans so equip them with robust vessels. Fishermen should be given modern equipment to prolong their fishing time at sea. Marine police and fisheries surveillance forces should support fishermen so that they could feel secure when fishing.”
The report on the East Sea issue will be discussed during the National Assembly session.
