(VOVWORLD) - This year’s national blood donation campaign Red Journey will run from June 6 to August 8 in 42 cities and provinces all over the Vietnam, said the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion on Sunday.

The campaign will open in Kien Giang province on June 6 and take in Hanoi two months later. Organizer said the national drive aims to provide counselling to 6000,000 people on voluntary blood donation and Thalassemia, an inherited blood disorder in which the body makes an abnormal form of hemoglobin.
90,000 blood units are expected to be collected during the campaign, organizers said.
