National Competition Commission inaugurated

(VOVWORLD) -The National Competition Commission, an agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, was inaugurated in Hanoi on Wednesday, according to a Government Decree regulating the functions, rights and duties, and organizational structure of the Commission.

It will be in charge of conducting competition proceedings, controlling economic concentration, deciding on exemptions from prohibited anti-competitive agreements, and settling complaints. It will also be responsible for giving advice to the Minister of Industry and Trade in performing the state management of competition, protecting consumers' interests and managing business activities in a multi-level manner.

At a conference in Hanoi on Wednesday, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien assigned key tasks to the National Competition Commission and urged for improving the quality and efficiency of the Commission's activities to meet the increasing needs of international integration.

“Focus on implementing competition proceedings and state management of competition, controlling economic concentration transactions, especially mergers and acquisitions of large enterprises operating in Vietnam to ensure maximum national interests and contribute to improving the independence and self-reliance of the national economy."

"Efforts should be made to step up the implementation of state management functions and tasks on consumer protection and management of multi-level sales activities, raise awareness of people and businesses to prevent manifestations of illegal multi-level business,” Dien said.
