(VOVworld) – NATO has pledged to provide Ukraine with lethal and non-lethal military supplies worth 15 million euros, Ukraine President Petro Poroshenko said on Friday, following the first day of the NATO summit in Wales.

NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen announced a comprehensive and tailored package of measures, including the donation of 15 million euros “through NATO”. Meanwhile, German Chancellor Angela Merkel spoke out against Ukraine’s membership of NATO, although she noted the necessity of stepping up the alliance’s cooperation with Kiev. However, the chancellor admitted that the West was ready for dialogue with Russia.
