North Korea launches new long-range missile

(VOVWORLD) - North Korean leader Kim Jong Un oversaw the test firing of long-range surface-to-air missiles near the east coast of the Korean peninsular, state media reported Thursday.

KCNA reported that Wednesday's missile test, to assess the strategic technology for developing a new type of high-altitude missile, destroyed putative targets in the air from 200 km away.

KCNA said that the test was part of the routine activities of the missile agency and other weapons research institutes. Kim extended his congratulations on the successful test.
