Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has praised the role of Vietnamese women in national construction and defence. At a working session with the Vietnam Women’s Union in Hanoi on Tuesday, Mr. Trong said the party has initiated resolutions, programs and projects to empower women.

The party leader underlined future tasks of the Vietnam Women Union: “First, guidelines from the 11th National Party Congress should be comprehended. Party platform in the new period and its strategy for socio-economic development over the past 20 years should be studied thoroughly. Experiences from women movements and activities needs to be learnt for the next National Women’s Congress”.
Party leader Trong urged the women to be more proactive in the building of party, state and administration and be prepared for the 11th National Women’s Congress early next year. He acknowledged women’s proposals on retirement rights, women advancement and incentives for Union officials.
