Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has urged for more efforts to strengthen national defence, uphold people’s national pride and awareness about national construction and defence. The Party leader made the statement at the 2011 politico-military meeting on Friday.  Mr. Trong also called for the modernization of army and police forces by mastering advanced technology to match the new situation. The party leader reiterated that the entire army needs to focus on building strong and clean party organizations and follow President Ho Chi Minh’s moral examples.

Reports at the meeting said the military commission of the party central committee, Ministry of Defence and army commands have fulfilled tasks for this year, pursuing their ideal of fighting for the fatherland and socialism and safeguarding national integrity and revolutionary achievements, while ensuring peace and stability for national development.
