Party leader urges Hai Phong to upgrade its growth model

(VOVWORLD) -Hai Phong city must upgrade its growth model based on science, technology, and innovation, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam said during a working session with the municipal Party Committee on Monday.

The meeting focused on the results of leadership, direction, organization of study, dissemination, and implementation of the Resolution of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Resolutions of the Politburo, and the socio-economic development situation of Hai Phong city.

General Secretary Lam emphasized that the city needs to create breakthroughs in the development of modern industry, processing and manufacturing, and supporting industries with high added value, forming an advanced industrial ecosystem through the selection of quality investors, technologies, and strategic supply chains. The goal is to make Hai Phong a central hub for coordinating high-value trade, logistics, and service flows in northern Vietnam, he said.
Hai Phong's economy grew nearly 12% in 2025, ranking second nationwide and highest among centrally-governed cities, marking the 11th consecutive year of double-digit growth. Hai Phong's 30 billion USD economy ranks third nationwide.
