Peace deal signed in Yemen

(VOVworld) – The Yemeni government and the “Houthis” Shiite insurgent group signed a peace deal Sunday, ending ten years of conflict.

The signing ceremony was held at the Yemeni President’s Office and overseen by UN Special Envoy to Yemen Jamal Benomar. Earlier Yemeni Prime Minister Mohammed Basindawa submitted his resignation to President Mansour Hadi, saying he wanted to pave the way for peace talks between the Yemeni government and the Houthis.
