PM underlines diplomacy serving economic growth, maintaining peaceful environment

(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh underlined the first two tasks of diplomacy serving economic growth and maintaining a peaceful environment for development, as he addressed the review meeting of the diplomatic sector in Hanoi on Monday.

"First, we must effectively serve the growth target of at least 8% and strive for higher growth in favorable conditions. Second, we must maintain, consolidate and enhance the peaceful environment for development cooperation with all countries, especially big countries, neighboring countries and traditional friends."

Prime Minister Chinh praised the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Vietnamese representative agencies abroad for closely coordinating with ministries, sectors, localities, and enterprises to actively, promptly, and effectively implement foreign affairs tasks, contributing to the overall achievements of the country in the past year.

This year is of special importance as Vietnam sets a growth target of 8%, while the entire political system reorganizes its apparatus, the Prime Minister said and requested the diplomatic sector to continue to strengthen coordination, synchronously, creatively and effectively implement Party, State and people-to-people diplomacy, and foreign affairs at all levels, as well as build a modern and professional diplomacy.

PM Chinh also suggested that diplomatic activities contribute to promoting new productive forces, like big data, cloud computing, Internet industry, Blockchain, new energy, new materials and cultural and entertainment industry. He stressed the need to streamline apparatus and improve the quality of cadres and civil servants in the diplomatic sector.
