(VOVworld) – The Pom Lot-Huoi Puoc beltway opened to traffic in Dien Bien province on Sunday. Construction of the 80km beltway started in 2011 at a cost of 65 million USD.

It will shorten the distance from Dien Bien city to Laos’ Luong Pra Bang to nearly 100km. Army Commander of Dien Bien province Luu Trong Lu says: “The beltway will help to improve transportation and ensure social security and defense along the 360km border between Vietnam and Laos and in the western part of Dien Bien. This is one of the activities to celebrate the 60^th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory.”
