The patient has not used the ventilator for 10 days. He is now able to breathe on his own, and his kidney, heart, and liver functions have recovered.
Deputy Health Minister Nguyen Truong Son said the patient has regained 85% of his lung function, is no longer in critical condition, and has entered a rehabilitation period.
“The patient has recovered enough to be discharged from the Intensive Care Unit. But, to be safe, we recommend that Cho Ray Hospital continue intensive care measures until he is healthy enough to be flown back to Scotland,” said Son.
According to the doctors, it will take 2 to 3 more weeks before he is able to travel safely.
