(VOVworld)- Seizing opportunities and promoting the strength of the entire nation to safeguard national interests and take the country forward is the message that President Truong Tan Sang sent to the nation in his New Year 2015 article. According to the President, sustainable development is a Vietnam’s strategic choice in the era of globalization with complicated and unpredictable opportunities and risks, and chances and challenges being mixed and changeable. The President wrote that in 2015 and the following years, Vietnam needs to focus on removing hindrances, overcoming limitations and weaknesses in order to take the economy out of recession, recover the growth rate while accelerating renovation, industrialization, modernization, and global integration, and reforming the growth model. The President stressed protecting national interests is the supreme goal. For Vietnamese people, national interests are independence, sovereignty, unification, territorial integrity; the socialist regime, the strength and prosperity of the country, and the freedom and happiness of the people. He affirmed that those interests are the goals that Vietnam is determined to achieve. According to the President, any forces which have plots and actions against Vietnam’s goals in the cause of national construction and defense are subjects of struggle. The President’s article affirmed Vietnam’s sovereignty over sea and islands are sacred and inviolable. He wrote that Vietnam is determined to resolve disputes through peaceful means in line with international law and is ready to defend national sovereignty. More than 90 million Vietnamese people have strong determination to defend the nation. The President noted that winning the heart of people is the basic lesson. The people are the root and their power is unbeatable which has helped Vietnam weather all huge waves and strong wind.
