During his stay in India late last week, President Quang held talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and met with President Ram Nath Kovind. He also met Speaker of the Lower House of India's Parliament Sumitra Mahajan, Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj, and leaders of political parties and the Vietnam-India Friendship Association.

Mr. Quang attended the Vietnam-India Business Forum and launched the “Vietnamese cultural days in India”. He paid a floral tribute to India's national hero Mahatma Gandhi and visited the Bihar state.

President Quang also talked to Indian politicians, professors, researchers, scholars, and students at the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library in New Delhi.

President Quang’s visit to Bangladesh took place at a time when both countries were celebrating the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties.

While in Bangladesh, he held talks with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and met with President Abdul Hamid. He also had meetings with the Speaker of the Parliament of Bangladesh and the Chairman of the Bangladesh Workers' Party, and attended the opening ceremony of the “Vietnamese cultural days in Bangladesh”.

Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dang Dinh Quy answered reporters’ questions about the outcomes of President Quang’s visits to India and Bangladesh. He said the visits were successful in all spheres.

President Quang and Indian and Bangladeshi leaders reached a high consensus on major orientations to enhance relations between Vietnam and the two nations. Vietnam and India pledged to promote their comprehensive strategic partnership, while Vietnam vowed to raise its traditional friendship with Bangladesh to a new height.

Mr. Quy said that following the visits, the Vietnam-India and Vietnam-Bangladesh economic and trade cooperation will thrive.
