President Tran Dai Quang receives Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi
(VOVworld)- President Tran Dai Quang said the Vietnamese Party, State and people attach great importance to reinforcing and enhancing the friendly neighbourliness and comprehensive cooperation with China, which is one of the top priorities in Vietnam’s external policies.

At a reception for Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi in Hanoi on Monday, Mr. Quang suggested the two sides implement the agreements reached by their leaders while increasing political trust via high-level contacts and all-level friendly exchanges. The State leader also urged both nations to step up communications on bilateral friendship and win-win collaborations, as well as carrying out effectively economic-trade-investment deals and enact measures to develop bilateral trade links towards balance and sustainability. Regarding maritime issues, the President recommended the two sides follow earnestly the agreements and perceptions reached by their leaders, including the agreement on basic principles guiding the settlement of sea-related issues. He called upon both nations to effectively control any disputes without any actions that complicate the issues whilst promoting negotiation mechanisms on marine matters and establishing a search and rescue mechanism in the Gulf of Tokin. Quang said it is necessary to implement fully and effectively the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) and soon build a Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC). He stressed the importance of settling disputes through peaceful means and in line with international law, the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), maintaining peace, and stability in the East Sea and the region.
Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi said the Chinese Party and Government are persistent with developing friendly neighborliness and mutually beneficial cooperation with Vietnam. He said China is also willing to partner with Vietnam to implement effectively significant common perceptions between their leaders.
