The US Supreme Court has ruled that Trump's tariffs are illegal. The White House is now looking for legal ways to keep or increase current trade pressure, despite the court ruling. For now, the Trump administration has imposed a temporary 15% tariff on all imports to the United States for 150 days.

Meanwhile, US House Speaker Mike Johnson said Congress is unlikely to pass a bill to approve President Donald Trump’s tariff plan. He said it would be difficult to reach agreement on the next steps and questioned the idea of adding tariff measures to a budget bill, as some Republicans have proposed.

Senate Democrats said Monday they will block any effort to extend the new tariffs announced by President Trump. A trio of Senate Democrats are writing a bill that will require the government to refund the tariffs that have been ruled illegal.
