(VOVworld)- President Truong Tan Sang will pay an official visit to China from June 19 to 21 at the invitation of General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and President Xi Jinping. Speaking to Vietnamese reporters on the occasion, the Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Kong Xuanyou expressed his hope that the visit will contribute to boosting the bilateral ties and building mutual trust in politics, effective cooperation and resolving pending problems thus elevating the Sino-Vietnamese relations. The Chinese Ambassador said that this year, with joint efforts by both countries, the Sino-Vietnamese Strategic Partnership has witnessed new progress. Through an increase of exchanges between the two countries’ senior leaders, ministries, agencies and localities, trade cooperation has been expanded. Two-way trade reached 40 billion USD in 2012. In the first five months of this year, the figure reached 18.9 billion USD, up 37.3% against the same period last year. Both countries have made efforts to maintain peace at sea, promote negotiations on border delineation and enhance cooperation in exploration activities off the Tonkin Gulf and other less sensitive sea-related issues.

With regards to prospects for Vietnamese-Sino relationship, the Chinese Ambassador said that China will continue boosting cooperation with Vietnam, strengthening mutual trust in politics, enhancing cooperation for mutual benefit and reasonably resolving pending problems while prioritizing the friendly neighborliness and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries which will benefit all.
