Professor Ngo Bao Chau talks with Ho Chi Minh city students

(VOVworld) - Mathematics Professor Ngo Bao Chau on Tuesday talked with students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Ho Chi Minh city about the conflict of science and art. His participation in the ASEAN-Canada Forum 2013 has won Professor Chau admiration among the audience for his profound knowledge and unique perspective. He started by giving some math theories which seemed as convoluted as polygons and shapes in space. He used mathematics to lead students to art and deciphered the attraction of several world famous works of art.

Diplomat Ton Nu Thi Ninh, who fielded questions from students and replayed them to Professor Chau, told VOV: "It’s interesting to see a natural scientist at his peak sharing his knowledge with others. Science is not so lofty that no one can reach it. Professor Chau is opening his heart and mind to the community, which, I think, is really precious".

The talks have involved a number of domestic and foreign scholars. The ASEAN-Canada Forum 2013 promotes stronger ties between organizers and scientists and greater access to academic and artistic programs for lecturers, researchers, and students.
