At a working session with leaders of Quang Binh province on Wednesday, President Phuc said, “Quang Binh has great potential with its blue sea, green forests, and a green environment. The province should develop an airport and a seaport. It also has a world natural heritage, and borders another country.”

“Not all provinces have these advantages. So the Quang Binh needs to work out a long-term development vision to promote eco-tourism, adventure tourism, sports tourism, and cultural tourism,” said Mr. Phuc.

The same day, President Phuc offered incense at General Vo Nguyen Giap’s tomb in Quang Dong commune, Quang Trach district.

Earlier, President Phuc attended an art performance in Dong Hoi city to mark the 65th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s visit to the province.

“It’s necessary to continue the heroic revolutionary tradition, stimulate development, and promote solidarity, dynamism and creativity. Rapid economic growth must be made sustainable by transforming from capital-based growth to total factor productivity (TFP)-based growth. It’s also important to replace the use of resources such as land, the environment, and cheap labor through technology-intensive innovation,” according to Mr. Phuc.

He urged Quang Binh to focus investment resources on key economic sectors like tourism, which should take advantage of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park to make Quang Binh a leading adventure tourism center.

He asked Quang Binh to invest more in upgrading strategic infrastructure, particularly the inter-regional highway system and telecommunications infrastructure, and in sustainable urbanization.
