RoK, Japan, US discuss DPRK nuclear program


(VOVworld) – The top nuclear envoys from South Korea, Japan and the US held trilateral talks in Seoul on Wednesday to discuss the nuclear program of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK). The talks were attended by South Korea's Hwang Joon-Kook, the US special representative for North Korean policy, Sung Kim, and Junichi Ihara, Director-General for Asian and Oceanian Affairs at the Japanese Foreign Ministry.

 Kook said he hoped that there would be constructive negotiations regarding the DPRK’s nuclear program as well as other related issues. He pledged South Korea’s enhanced collaboration with the US and Japan to better tackle threats from the DPRK and achieve progress in denuclearization efforts on the Korean peninsula. He added that South Korea would strengthen consultation with Russia and China over the issue.
