Ruling coalition dissolved in Kyrgyzstan
The Kyrgyz parliamentary majority coalition has been dissolved after 8 months of operation, coalition leader Kanatbek Isayev said Wednesday. Isayev said the ruling coalition formed by 4 parties including the Social Democratic Party, Republic, Ata-Meken, and Ar-Namys collapsed after Ar-Namys and Ata-Meken decided to quit. Some members of the Ar-Namys party accused Kyrgyz Prime Minister Omurbek Babanov of violating the coalition agreement through his decision to dismiss a minister of Ar-Namys. Ata-Meken also accused Babanov of abuse of power and corruption. Isayev said that after the collapse of the majority coalition, all members of the cabinet, including the Prime Minister, must immediately resign. According to Kyrgyzstan Constitution, the Kyrgyz President must give a mandate to one parliamentary faction to form a new majority coalition within 15 days.
