(VOVworld) – Russia is able to defend its national interests and no threat could force Russians to renounce their values and ideals, said Russian President Vladimir Putin on Russian National Unity Day.

Putin said that, despite several challenges since the beginning of this year, Russia had proved that it could defend its own national interests. He praised the Russian people for their response to the difficulties “by unity and moral, spiritual righteousness.”
Putin said National Unity Day “marks the dedication of Russian people to their motherland” and that the responsibility of all Russian people for their country had been “the basis for Russia’s independence and sovereignty, while century-long patriotism and love for the motherland have united a Russian multi-ethnic country.”
