(VOVWORLD) -Russia's security service has launched an "international terrorism" investigation after gas leaks were reported on the Nord Stream pipelines from Russia to Europe.

The Russian prosecutor's office said Wednesday that the Federal Security Service (FSB) opened an investigation into "international terrorism" after "intentional actions were taken to damage gas pipelines near the Bornholm island, causing significant economic damage to the Russian Federation," the prosecutor's office said in a statement.
The Swedish coast guard said Tuesday that there are four leaks in the damaged Nord Stream pipelines, with two in the Swedish and two in the Danish exclusive economic zones.
