– US and Russian military officials said Thursday that the two countries are
getting closer to an agreement on establishing safe flight zones in Syria.

spokesman Peter Cookcho said the two sides made progress at Wednesday’s consultation,
adding that Russian and US aircraft haven’t had any dangerous encounters yet.
Spokesman
for the Russian Defense Ministry Igor Konashenkov confirmed the progress at
recent bilateral talks, saying that an agreement is on the table and the two
sides have similar views on major provisions.
