Seminar honors female martyr Dang Thuy Tram
(VOVWORLD) - The Hanoi Museum has just held a seminar to honor female martyr, doctor Dang Thuy Tram, who volunteered to work in a field hospital in Quang Ngai province during the war, treating wounded soldiers under treacherous conditions. She was killed at age 27 in a 1970 ambush.

Participants listened to touching stories shared by Dang Thuy Tram’s three younger sisters, namely Dang Phuong Tram, Dang Hien Tram and Dang Kim Tram. From the stories of her family, Dang Thuy Tram was portrayed as a compassionate young woman with a strong desire to save lives and the courage to devote herself to difficult and dangerous missions.
“My sister joined the army to the South when I was still very young. I only knew about her through the letters she sent home, and those letters helped me imagine how harsh her life was on the Southern battlefield. During the war time, her letters always reminded us to live in a way worthy of a sister who was serving at the frontline,” Dang Kim Tram said.
The seminar displayed the heroic doctor's personal diary in a multimedia artistic space, which helped the audiences better understand her life on the battlefield as well as her deep affection for her family.
“I feel deeply moved and proud of the doctor’s life. What impressed me most is that she devoted herself wholeheartedly to the country while also holding deep love for her family.”
“Through the images shown in the program, we can see many artifacts that we had never seen or learned about before. I expect to join more events like this to have a chance to listen to stories from family members as well as museum materials. It awakens a stronger sense of patriotism and gratitude for those who contributed to the nation.”
The seminar was part of a series of thematic programs organized in March by the Hanoi Museum.
