The meeting between the two border areas took place in Hoanh Mo commune, Quang Ninh province of Vietnam as part of the 10th Vietnam–China Border Defense Friendship Exchange.
Hoanh Mo Commune currently has 13 out of the 22 villages bordering China. Of these, seven villages have established twinning relations with four villages on the Chinese side.
Over the past decade, maintaining and developing the twinning model between Cua Khau Village and Dongzhong Village of Fangchenggang City, Guangxi Province of China, has helped strengthen solidarity and friendship between authorities and residents on both sides, reinforced trust and close ties among border communities, and contributed to building a Vietnam–China border that is peaceful, friendly, stable, and conducive to long-term development.
Hoang Kien Trung, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Hoanh Mo Commune, expressed his hope that the two villages would continue improving the quality of friendly exchange activities and strengthen communication to encourage residents to strictly comply with regulations on border management and protection.
He suggested the two sides closely coordinate with functional forces of both sides in managing and safeguarding the borderline and border markers, and promote the exchange of experiences in economic development, thereby contributing to improving the livelihoods of people in border areas.
