Slovakia, Vietnam strengthen co-operation ties
(VOVworld) – Slovakia has hailed Vietnam’s
achievements in socio-economic development and international integration,
expressing its desire to further strengthen all-around cooperation with Vietnam.

During a 2-day
visit to Slovakia that
concluded last Friday, Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Bùi Thanh Sơn held a
political consultation with Slovakia’s
Foreign Ministry and met with some senior Slovak officials.
During the
meetings, both sides agreed to boost delegation exchanges at all levels and
cooperation at international forums within the framework of the UN, the
Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), and the ASEAN-EU, and improve trade and investment
in potential areas, especially agriculture, infrastructure, environment, and
information technology. The two countries promised to support their enterprises to
seek market and co-operation opportunities and strengthen co-operation in
education and training, tourism, national defense industry, and between
localities.
The host informed
the Vietnamese delegation about their approval of Vietnam-EU Partnership and
Co-operation Agreement (PCA) and promised to jointly celebrate the 65th
anniversary of Vietnam-Slovakia diplomatic ties in 2015.
Slovakia expressed its concern over escalating tension in the East Sea after China illegally
deployed oil rig Hai Yang 981 within Vietnam’s Exclusive Economic Zone and
supported peaceful conflict settlement in line with international law,
especially the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.
