South Korea, US stage drills with aircraft carrier
(VOVWORLD) -South Korea and the United States began joint maritime exercises in waters off South Korea's east coast on Friday, South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said.

South Korea deployed the Munmu the Great destroyer and the Donghae frigate for the exercises, while the US deployed the USS Ronald Reagan aircraft carrier, the USS Chancellorsville Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser; and the USS Barry, an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer.
On Thursday, Japan, the United States, and South Korea carried out a trilateral exercise in the waters east of the Korean Peninsula in response to a recent series of ballistic missile launches by North Korea.
