Special envoy of General Secretary To Lam meets with President Putin

(VOVWORLD) -Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung, who is also Special Envoy of Party General Secretary To Lam, met with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday at the Kremlin. The special envoy is visiting Russia to inform of the outcomes of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

During the meeting, President Putin congratulated the success of the Congress, adding that Mr. To Lam's re-election as General Secretary of the Party Central Committee for the new term demonstrates the high trust of the Party and the people.

He expressed his confidence that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, headed by General Secretary To Lam, Vietnam will successfully implement strategic priorities, step into an era of strong and sustainable development, and achieve the set goals.

On Tuesday, Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung and Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov held talks. The two sides reviewed and assessed the state of bilateral cooperation, agreed on several measures to enhance the leading role of the two ministries in strengthening relations between the two countries. They also  exchanged views on global and regional issues of mutual concern.
