State, government officials pay visits to Catholic followers on Xmas

Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan on Friday visited Catholic dignitaries and followers at the Phat Diem bishop’s office in Kim Son district of the northern province of Ninh Binh on the occasion of Christmas and New Year. Wishing Catholic dignitaries and followers in Phat Diem a merry and happy Christmas, the Vice President highlighted Catholic followers’ contributions to the achievements that Ninh Binh has made recently. Doan said she hopes that Catholic followers in the province will overcome difficulties and join hands with the entire nation to contribute to building a great national unity bloc in the time to come. Bishop Nguyen Manh Dat thanked for the Party and State’s attention to the Catholics’ festival: “We are pleased to welcome the Vice President on the occasion of Christmas. Being citizens and Catholic believers, we pledge to continue following the Party guidelines and the State’s policies and law while practising our faith”.

On the occasion, the Vice President presented gifts to 10 outstanding Catholic families in Kim Son district. Provincial leaders and mass organizations in Kon Tum, Nghe An, Can Tho, Vinh Long have visited Catholic dignitaries on the occasion of Christmas. Local leaders in Dac Lac province paid congratulation visits to Catholic and Protestant churches. Priest Ha Duy Kham from Thanh Tam diocese: It’s our honor to receive care and Christmas wishes from Party and people’s committee organizations every year. We have told our Catholic followers to stay loyal to  Christ and the nation, foster mutual love and build a better society” .
