The Prime Minister has decided to set up a Steering Committee "Fund for Truong Sa or Spratly islands" The head of the committee is a Deputy Defence Minister in charge of sea and islands. The fund is used to help improve the material and spiritual lives of people and soldiers on in Truong Sa district and the DK1 Platform. It also aims to raise people’s awareness about the important role of seas and islands in national construction and defense. Since its establishment, the fund has received donations worth tens of thousand of USD from many organizations, agencies and individuals from inside and outside Vietnam.
