The Doha meetings will be held on June 30 and July 1, Zabihullah Mujahid said, adding that a delegation will attend because the agenda of the talks appears beneficial to Afghanistan. Topics will include aid for Afghanistan and opportunities for investors in the country, he said.

The Taliban was absent from the first two rounds, which took place last May and in February of this year.

Initiated by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, the conferences aim to increase the international community's engagement with Afghanistan in a more coherent way.

The Taliban government has not yet been recognized by the international community. Many countries, international organizations, and aid agencies have cut funding to Afghanistan, severely dampening its already-struggling economy.
