Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Prawit Wongsuwan said there are IS members in that area. Wongsuwan instructed commanders of the army and the police to take necessary measures to nip all terrorist threats in the bud. Earlier, Thailand’s immigration police were ordered to increase security at airports and border gates to detect suspicious actions by foreign immigrants. Since terrorist attacks in Bangkok on August 17 killed 20 people and injured 100 others, Thailand has intensified measures to control security in key areas like tourist destinations with a lot of foreign tourists and embassies.
