(VOVworld) - The Election Commission of Thailand has announced that out of 94 percent of ballots counted at a referendum on Sunday, up to 61.4 percent of voters supported a new draft constitution, while 38.5 percent were against.

According to the Commission, the new draft constitution did not gain support from the northeastern region, where almost all voters rejected the military-penned document. In Bangkok, the “yes” vote amounted 70 percent. Regarding the question of whether to allow the House of Representatives to jointly vote for the Prime Minister, 58 percent voted for and almost 42 percent rejected it.
