During the nearly week-long training course, more than 30 participants from Vietnam and other countries learned professional knowledge and skills, while sharing experiences related to integrating gender perspectives into military functions and operations as well as strengthening women’s leadership in international peace and security issues.

Speaking at the closing ceremony in Hanoi on Friday, Colonel Nguyen Nhu Canh, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations, said that it was an in-depth international training course under a joint initiative between Canada and Vietnam. It aimed to promote the WPS agenda within the framework of Canada’s Military Training and Cooperation Program (MTCP), while supporting the United Nations’ policy of full, equal, and meaningful participation of women in UN peacekeeping operations.
