Tree Planting Festival launched to strengthen environmental protection, climate change response

(VOVWORLD) - Localities nationwide launched the Tree Planting Festival on Thursday as an effort to spread the program on planting one billion trees to protect the environment and respond to climate change. 

Phu Tho province launched the festival at the Hung Temple Special National Historical Relic Site. The province strives to grow 825 hectares of concentrated forests and 945,000 scattered trees.

In Ha Nam province, the provincial leaders asked agencies and localities to enhance communications to realize the target of planting 1.1 million trees in 2024.

Nam Dinh province launched the Tree Planting Festival at the Tran Temple – Tower Pagoda. The province plans to grow over 1.1 million trees, 9 hectares of coastal protection forest, and restore 100 hectares of forest on the coastal mudflats of Nghia Hung district.

Dong Hoi city of Quang Binh will plant 1,000 trees along streets and casuarinas on 1 hectare of coastline to prevent sand drift and sea erosion. Tree planting campaigns have been launched in 7 districts drawing a large number of people.
