(VOVWORLD) - US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that he is open to meeting North Korean leader Kim Jong Un during his trip to Asia. Trump told reporters onboard Air Force One as he departed for the region, adding that he "had a great relationship" with Kim.

He said that his most recent meeting with the North Korean leader took place after he announced his visit to South Korea online. If necessary, he is ready to send a message in the same way - through the Internet - given limited channels of communication between the two sides at the moment, Trump noted.
The latest meeting between Trump and Kim was held in June 2019 in Panmunjom, a truce village in the Demilitarized Zone that separates the two Koreas.
It was the third face-to-face meeting between the two leaders, following their meetings in Singapore in June 2018 and in Vietnam in February 2019.
